Powerful lessons from Rabbi Edelman

Boruch Dayan Haemes.

Although Rabbi Edelman did not know me, I definitely feel I know him, and he has gave me alot to my life.
I am a young 20 year old bochur who was in yeshiva in ...... for 5 years. BH I was zoche that Rabbi Edelman used to come at least once a year sometimes twice to farbreng for us bochurim (especially for 28 Sivan). Rabbi Edelman is one person who I know would say almost the same thing every time yet I always looked forward and loved when he came. I think about him and the things he taught us very often. Just to mention a few:
1. -He would ask us and go around the table that we should say why we think the Rebbe gave dollars on Sundays, we would come up with all different type of answers (gives us a chance to ask for Brochos, etc..) however his answer is one that I always remember whenever I think about the Rebbe. He said "ווייל די רבי איז די טאטע און א טאטע געב צו די קינדער געלט"!
2. - He would tell us that the Rebbe taught him incredibly how to have הכרת הטוב. To always say thank you, especially to the בעל קורא (apparently he was baal Koreh for some time in 770, if I remember correctly.
I remember this especially because I am a baal koreh as well).
3. - and of course It would be impossible to forget, as long as I live, the way he describes 28 sivan when the rebbe came to America. From the glee in his voice when he describes how upset he was that he didn't go to the pier and only the older bochurim were allowed to go until he realized that they went to the wrong pier so he ended up seeing the rebbe before the older bochurim ;) .

To the Rebbes 1st Farbrengin 3 days later when "America got it's first bang from the Rebbe, and what a bang it was". "The rebbe conquered America the 1st day!".

Currently I am on shlichus in ...... and we are in middle of summer camp. Every night I play a Rebbe video - a sicha and a MyEncounter - to the boys (which I prepared before camp). On Thursday night we watched a video of Rabbi Edelman when he speaks of the lesson the Rebbe received from the Freiedike Rebbe in Ahavas Yisroel with the Mashal of the disabled child whom we have extra love. You can only imagine how I felt when I heard after Shabbos that he had passed away the following morning. It has had a strong impact on me. And I know that I will continue to live with what Rabbi Edelman was taught me in the most important years of my life through his love and care and his devotion to the Rebbe and everything the Rebbe stood for. A true Chossid and a real Dugma Chaya!
May His Neshama, which has for sure joined together in the heichel of the Rebbe and all of the Nisei Chabad, have an aliya and we should be zoche with the help of all his work and his tefillos to the coming of Moshiach Right now!
